This means that if frozen or heated it stays in its original shape . It expands and retracts depending on the temperature but will always end back up in its original shape. When installed in concrete or built into floors it is a great product that lasts a long time.
When laid out properly there will not be any cold spots or hot spots in the room. It will be a perfect consistent temperature. If installed improper it will leave random cold spots in your room and may result in warped flooring where to much heat is being released.
