The way the system works these days is hot water is cycled through plastic Pex tubing that is made radiant floor heaters the efficient way it is today, the best thing about pex tubing is it is a cross linked polyethylene pipe that has molecular memory. This means that if frozen or heated it stays in its original shape . It expands and retracts depending on the temperature but will always end back up in its original shape. When installed in concrete or built into floors it is a great product that lasts a long time.

When laid out properly there will not be any cold spots or hot spots in the room. It will be a perfect consistent temperature. If installed improper it will leave random cold spots in your room and may result in warped flooring where to much heat is being released.
